Why Choose Water-Based Adhesives?Water-based adhesives are gaining popularity across industries due to their eco-friendly formulation, strong bonding capabilities, and low VOC emissions. Compared to traditional solvent-based adhesives, they offer safer working conditions, compliance with environment
Water-based adhesive is an eco-friendly alternative to traditional solvent-based adhesives. Solvent-based adhesives contain organic solvents such as toluene and acetone, which produce a sharp odor, are difficult to clean (requiring gasoline or nail polish remover), and release VOCs that pollute the air and harm health. In contrast, water-based adhesive uses water as its base, emits mainly water vapor, has almost no smell, and contains very low levels of VOCs. If it gets on your hands or the floor, simply rinse it off with water. Although it dries a bit slower and is not suitable for water-sensitive materials, it works excellently on porous materials like fabric, leather, paper, and certain plastics. Water-based adhesives are now widely used in sneakers, backpack straps, sofas, wallpapers, and many other everyday items, making them a true “green bonding expert” in modern industry.
In addition to soaking, sun exposure, and vigorous brushing, there are several hidden "glue killers" in shoe care: storing shoes in high temperatures for long periods, crushing the heel to wear them as slippers, and using hard glues like 502 (super glue) for DIY repairs. These practices also silently damage the shoe sole glue, leading to delamination and brittleness. This article points out these mistakes and their causes, and provides gentle and correct care methods.
